Seventy percent of Al Nahda Sharjah residents commute to Dubai every morning. That puts Al Nahda in a weird category — geographically Sharjah, functionally a Dubai suburb. And when it's time to move within Al Nahda or out of it, that border sits between you and AED 200-400 in unnecessary costs if you hire the wrong mover.
We work both sides of this border. Here's what actually matters when you're moving in Al Nahda Sharjah — the buildings, the traffic windows, the licensing, and who to call.
Why Sharjah-Licensed Movers Matter Here
A Dubai-licensed mover operating in Sharjah faces a Sharjah Municipality permit fee of AED 200-400 per move. That gets passed on to you in the quote. A Sharjah-licensed mover skips the fee entirely because they're in their home emirate.
For a Dubai-to-Sharjah cross-border move, a Dubai mover is usually fine — they're already set up to cross emirates. But for a Sharjah-to-Sharjah move (Al Nahda to Aljada, Al Nahda to Muwaileh, or between Al Nahda buildings), a Sharjah-licensed mover is genuinely cheaper and usually knows the local buildings better.
There are about 15-20 legitimately Sharjah-licensed movers in the emirate. SAMA partners with three of them for Al Nahda Sharjah work specifically. Our Northern Emirates movers guide walks through the licensing differences in more detail.
The Border-Building Cluster
Al Nahda Sharjah is tight — most of the residential volume sits in four building clusters along Al Ittihad Road, the Dubai-Sharjah spine:
Sahara Towers (Sahara Complex)
Five towers sharing a common podium. Shared service lifts serve all five — there are four in total for 1,400+ units. Lift reservations go through Sahara Complex management (not individual building managers) and you need:
- AED 500 refundable lift deposit per slot
- 48 hours advance booking minimum
- 3-hour slots maximum, strictly enforced
- No moves between 7:00-9:30 or 17:00-20:00 — lifts reserved for residents at peak
Practical tip: book a weekday 10:00 slot. Weekend 10:00 slots fill up two weeks in advance during September and January.
Al Taawun Buildings
A dozen mid-rise buildings along Al Taawun Road. Smaller scale than Sahara — one or two lifts per building, less formal booking. Management approvals go through each building's concierge. Usually easier to schedule but harder to move large furniture because lift sizes shrink. Anything over 180cm x 80cm frequently won't fit.
Al Nahda Gate Towers
Newer construction (2019-2021), bigger lift capacity, stricter NOC rules. Moving in requires a Sharjah Municipality-issued Move-In Permit (AED 75) plus the building's internal NOC. The paperwork takes 2-3 days.
Al Ittihad Road Low-Rises
Older 3-5 storey buildings with no lifts. Walk-up moves dominate this cluster. Add AED 80-120 per flight of stairs to your quote. A 4th-floor walk-up with a 2-bed worth of furniture can add AED 600+ to the base price.
Al Ittihad Road — The Truck Window Rule
Al Ittihad Road is the main Dubai-Sharjah artery. Commercial vehicles over 2.5 tonnes are restricted during peak hours in both directions:
- 06:00-10:00 Dubai-bound — moving trucks prohibited
- 16:00-20:00 Sharjah-bound — moving trucks prohibited
- Midnight-06:00 — allowed but moves in buildings aren't permitted at these hours
Workable move windows are 10:00-16:00 and 20:00-00:00. Our crews target 10:30 arrivals at Al Nahda buildings — the lifts have cleared morning traffic, Al Ittihad is legal, and we have until 16:00 to finish before the evening peak hits.
Move Costs for Al Nahda Sharjah
| Unit Type | Within Al Nahda | Al Nahda to Dubai | Al Nahda to Aljada/Muwaileh |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio | AED 700 - 1,000 | AED 900 - 1,300 | AED 800 - 1,200 |
| 1-Bed | AED 1,100 - 1,600 | AED 1,400 - 2,100 | AED 1,300 - 1,900 |
| 2-Bed | AED 1,700 - 2,600 | AED 2,200 - 3,400 | AED 2,000 - 3,100 |
| 3-Bed | AED 2,800 - 4,200 | AED 3,500 - 5,500 | AED 3,200 - 4,800 |
Add AED 80-120 per flight for walk-ups. Add AED 200-400 if you've hired a Dubai-only licensed mover (emirate crossing permit). Subtract 15-20% for weekday mid-month moves.
Required Paperwork
- Sharjah Municipality Move Permit — AED 75, issued in 1-2 working days. Some buildings require this; many don't.
- Building NOC — signed by the concierge or security desk, usually free
- SEWA final bill clearance at old property, new SEWA activation at destination
- Tasdeeq or Ejari — depending on whether you're staying in Sharjah or moving to Dubai

What Makes Al Nahda Sharjah Move Logistics Unique
Truck parking. Most Al Nahda buildings don't have dedicated loading bays. Trucks park on internal service roads or residential streets. Sharjah Municipality marshals do clear unauthorised parking between 07:00-10:00 and 16:30-19:30 — schedule around that.
Friday prayer windows. Buildings close to mosques (Sahara Complex has three within walking distance) enforce 11:30-13:30 move silence on Fridays. Most movers just avoid Friday moves here entirely.
For cross-emirate moves more broadly, our inter-emirate moving guide covers the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman corridor logistics.
Booking Through SAMA
We handle Al Nahda Sharjah moves either directly (when a Dubai-licensed operation is more efficient — typically Al Nahda to Dubai or international) or through our Sharjah-licensed partner operators (for Sharjah-to-Sharjah moves). Either way, you get a single point of contact, one quote, and the correct licensing automatically applied.
Our apartment movers service includes the permit logistics. Our Al Nahda Sharjah movers page has availability and quotes specifically for this area. Or request an estimate mentioning your building — we'll route you to the right-licensed operator.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Sharjah-licensed mover for Al Nahda?
For a move entirely within Sharjah (Al Nahda to Aljada, Muwaileh, or other Sharjah areas), a Sharjah-licensed mover saves AED 200-400 in emirate-crossing permit fees. For an Al Nahda-to-Dubai move, either licence works — Dubai movers are already equipped for cross-border. SAMA routes automatically to the correct-licensed operator based on your origin and destination.
Can moving trucks use Al Ittihad Road during rush hour?
No — commercial vehicles over 2.5 tonnes are restricted 06:00-10:00 Dubai-bound and 16:00-20:00 Sharjah-bound. Workable move windows for Al Nahda buildings are 10:00-16:00 or 20:00-midnight. Most of our crews target 10:30 arrivals to maximise the midday window before evening peak hits.
How hard is it to get a lift slot at Sahara Towers?
Weekday 10:00-14:00 slots are usually available with 48-72 hours notice. Weekend slots during September and January fill up 2 weeks ahead. The AED 500 refundable deposit is standard. If you're flexible, mid-week 11:00 starts are the easiest to book.
Is Al Nahda Sharjah cheaper to move than Al Nahda Dubai?
Yes — a 2-bed move within Al Nahda Sharjah runs AED 1,700-2,600 using a Sharjah-licensed mover. The same move in Al Nahda Dubai with a Dubai mover runs AED 2,100-3,200 due to higher Dubai operating costs. The difference is AED 400-600 for comparable service quality.
