- Legs come off before any move — three legs on a grand, each attached by a single stout bolt or peg. Removing them is a controlled process, not a quick job.
- Piano goes on a skid-board on its straight side, with the keyboard edge UP, wrapped in padded blankets. It is never tilted onto its curved side.
- Crew size is 4 minimum for a baby grand, 5-6 for a full grand, 6 for a concert grand
- Specialist equipment — reinforced piano dolly, skid board, crossing straps, specialized blankets (not standard moving blankets)
