In-home furniture moves from a AED 200 minimum — crew sizes, timings and when it is worth paying someone. ## The Job Nobody Advertises A customer called us this week about two cupboards. She did not want them moved to a new home. She wanted them moved upstairs, in the villa she already lives in. That job took a couple of hours, and we do a version of it most weeks. Nobody in Dubai advertises it clearly, so people either wrestle a wardrobe up a staircase themselves, or assume they have to book a full moving company and pay full moving-company money. Neither is right. This is the guide to moving furniture **inside** the home you already live in — what it costs, how long it takes, and when it is worth paying someone. ## What Counts as an In-Home Move Anything that starts and ends at the same address. The common ones we get called for: - **Cupboards and wardrobes to another floor** — usually a villa or townhouse, usually up - **A bed moved to a different bedroom** — often when a baby arrives or a teenager takes the bigger room - **Sofas upstairs or into a majlis** — the classic problem where it came in through the front door but will not go up the stairs - **Appliance relocation** — fridge, washing machine or dryer moving to a different spot or a different floor - **Wardrobes across a hallway** — short distance, but too heavy and too tall to walk without damage - **Garden and terrace furniture** — in for the summer, out again in October - **Gym equipment** — treadmills, multi-gyms and weight racks, which are heavier and more awkward than anything else in most homes What it is *not* is a move between two units in the same tower. That is a different job with permits and paperwork — see the [same-building internal move playbook](https://samadubaimovers.com/blog/same-building-internal-move-dubai-playbook) for that one. Inside a single home there is no NOC, no Ejari, no elevator booking, and usually no truck. ## What It Costs There is no flat rate, because a single bedside table across a hallway and a treadmill up two flights are not the same job. Pricing follows three things: - **What the item is** — weight, size, how fragile, whether it fits through the doors and up the stairs as-is - **The distance and the route** — same room, next room, up one floor, up two, and whether there is a lift or only stairs - **Crew size** — one person for simple jobs, two for most furniture, more when the piece genuinely needs it Our **minimum charge is AED 200**. That covers the callout and the smaller jobs. Beyond that it is quoted on the specifics, and we would rather look at a photo and tell you the real number than publish a fake one. Jobs run anywhere from **30 minutes to about 4 hours**. A single wardrobe across a landing is a half-hour visit. A full reshuffle of a villa's bedrooms is most of a working day. ### Disassembly and Reassembly Plenty of furniture will not go up a Dubai staircase in one piece — built-in-style wardrobes and king beds especially. When a piece has to come apart, a carpenter comes with the crew rather than you having to arrange a separate trade. **The dismantling and reassembly is charged on top of the move itself**, because it is real extra work and extra time. We tell you before we start, not after. ## When to Pay Someone and When Not To Honest version: if it is light, fits through the door as-is, and you have someone to take the other end, move it yourself. Nobody needs to pay AED 200 to shift a bookshelf across a room. It is worth calling us when any of these are true: - **Stairs are involved and the item is heavy.** Most in-home damage in Dubai villas happens on the turn of a staircase — to the wall, the bannister, or someone's back. - **It needs to come apart.** Wardrobes that were assembled in place often cannot be moved whole, and taking one apart without the right tools usually means it never sits square again. - **It is worth more than the job costs.** A marble-top table or a solid oak wardrobe is not the thing to learn on. - **The floors are the risk.** Dragging heavy furniture across polished porcelain or engineered wood costs far more to fix than the move. ## How We Protect Things on an In-Home Move Short distance does not mean no protection — most damage we get called to look at happened on a quick move across one room. Crews bring moving blankets, stretch film, bubble wrap, masking tape and corner protection, and lay floor protection on the route before anything is lifted. Doors and door frames on tight turns get padded too. For heavier pieces we use trolleys and straps rather than brute force, which is what keeps both the item and the floor intact. The same [furniture moving](https://samadubaimovers.com/services/furniture-moving) crews handle these jobs — it is the same skill set, just without the truck. ## Booking One Send a photo of the item and tell us where it is going. That is usually enough for a firm price without a site visit. If it is a bigger reshuffle — several rooms, or a whole floor — we will come and look first. We cover Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and small jobs like this often go same-day if the schedule allows. If you also need something mounted, assembled or fixed while we are there, our [handyman service](https://samadubaimovers.com/services/handyman-services) can be added to the same visit. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### Will movers move furniture within the same house in Dubai? Yes. SAMA Movers takes in-home jobs where the furniture starts and finishes at the same address — cupboards to an upper floor, a bed to a different bedroom, appliances or gym equipment relocated. The minimum charge is AED 200 and most jobs take between 30 minutes and 4 hours. ### How much does it cost to move furniture within your home? It depends on the item, the route and the crew needed, starting from a minimum charge of AED 200. A single wardrobe across a hallway sits at the bottom of that range; moving several heavy pieces between floors takes longer and costs more. Send a photo and we will quote the actual job rather than a generic rate. ### Do I need a permit or NOC to move furniture inside my own home? No. Permits, NOCs and elevator bookings apply when furniture leaves or enters a unit. Moving items around inside the home you already occupy needs none of that. Moving between two units in the same building is different and does require the paperwork. ### Can you take a wardrobe apart to get it up the stairs? Yes — a carpenter comes with the crew when a piece has to be dismantled, so you do not need to arrange a separate trade. The dismantling and reassembly is charged on top of the move itself, and we confirm that cost before starting. ### How many people will you send? One for simple single-item jobs, two for most furniture, and more when the size, weight or staircase calls for it. We size the crew from the photo or the survey so you are not paying for people standing around. --- ## About SAMA Movers SAMA Movers is a licensed moving company serving Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman: villa and apartment moves, office relocation, packing, furniture moving, handyman work and storage. - Website: https://samadubaimovers.com - Phone: 054 552 0191 - Email: info@samadubaimovers.com - Address: Al Quoz Industrial Area 3, Dubai, UAE - Canonical HTML version of this page: https://samadubaimovers.com/blog/moving-furniture-within-same-home-dubai-guide
